After teaching various mystery novel classes and producing several reading lists from those classes, I decided I wanted a way to share these lists with more people. This blog offers me a way to share my knowledge about the mystery and thriller genre with reviews of books and a way to continue to learn from others via the comment section. I love a good mystery– all of the different sub-genres from cozy to hard-boiled, from international to domestic small town, from historicals to tech mysteries! But like you, I have limited time to read all the books I want to read; therefore, I don’t waste my time on “less than really good” mysteries…. I will give you my honest opinion on books, and I hope you will do the same for me. Happy Reading!

Thanks so much for doing this, Pam! I look forward to following your blog regularly. I very much appreciate your reading lists. “To Read or Not to Read” is also great. I read I Am Pilgrim this summer on your recommendation and it is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

Cindy, thank you for your generous comments. Have you tried Taylor Stevens? Start with the Informationist (see To Read or Not To Read). Her African settings would appeal to you, I think. You just have to skim the violent parts — though she is not as bad as many current writers trying to appeal to the best seller lists with their gore.

The Informationist will be next on my list. I can handle a fair amount of gore. 😉 Thanks!
